Starting Over

I have dieted a total of 3 times in my life. I have been pretty successful at doing a low carb diet, but I had to quit back when I got pregnant. Now it's been 3 years, and despite a few short tries, I haven't been able to commit to getting back to a healthy size... something always happens.

Last time I tried to diet, my mom had her stroke. So we changed our eating to deal with the stress and to get her healthy again. She's back to good health now, or at least normal, so I can diet again. I am commited to being healthy.

I have been going to the gym now for over a month, so the diet should fit that nicely.

Today: Breakfast was 2 eggs, scrambled, with green peppers and onions and a Chicken, asiago, and artichoke sausage. The sausages are YUMMMMMY.

The hardest part will be getting Pepsi and chocolate out of my day. I will probably be ok though, I hope :)

Wish me luck. Hope the steroids don't get in the way too much. And now, it's time for the big number none of us like to share. 259.5 Pounds. That's a whole lot.

I do wish you luck. I have been low-carbing for about 5 years with good success. Hang in there!

Losing weight is like learning to ski! Don't look at the bottom of the hill, you'll never make it. Just look from side to side and ski slowly across. Before you know it you'll be at the bottom of that hill. Low carb is a great diet..Good luck! I'm restarting today as well. Got 20 more to go.

Good luck on restarting your diet! i am with you and restarting my diet today as well, so i will be "watching" and cheering as you reach each goal! Just set small goals and reward yourself with something for a job well done (i like to look forward to new scrapbook kits!). Then when you hit that goal start thinking about the next one!
i don't know about everyone else, but i like it when you include personal stuff on your blog!
There is one thing that i thought about tho'....i started using google reader a few weeks ago, and i have not found a way to leave comments from there without actually opening a new window to the actual blog and this sometimes hinders me from commenting when time is short.......

I wish you the best with weight loss! I have struggled for years. Three weeks ago I found out I was diabetic, and had to suddenly drastically change my diet. I began walking 2-3 miles a day, and eating low carb and low fat. Eating 6 times a day is what helps me the most. I am never hungry! Try reading about diabetic diets-they can help us all! I don;t have a scale, but my clothes hang much loser already! Good Luck to you! You can do it!

If it makes you feel better I've been trying to diet too, but with no success at will power. I dieted back in '04 and lost 33 lbs through weight watchers by doing it myself, then got pregnant. I'm actually at a weight that is the heaviest I've ever been. 185, but I'm a short girl so its the more reason for me get back on track. I wish you luck in your diet venture. Healthy eating is a good habit to make.

Hey Sweet Pea,
Best wishes for your diet. Don't be hard on yourself. Have you talked with your doctor? Steroids have a tendency to give most people an enourmous appetite. When I was on them, I could eat the paint of the walls!!!!
Best advice...... drink your water!
(and reward yourself with special tokens of your achievement!)

best of luck to you in your dieting... i, to am a diabetic.. i changed my eating habits a yr ago.. lost 30+ lbs, but then my dad had surgury in jan and i got off track.. been off ever since.. i really should start getting back tho.. i'm feelin a bit off balance these days and think it's the sugar.. i used calorie king website and that kept me ontrack really well, got lax in that tho.. if i account for my intake i do really good at the diet.. working shifts doesn't help either.. currently on 11pm - 7am shift and its hard to get the meals in properly. calorie king is a membership site, i think i will hit it again and diet along w/ u.. see how it goes -- may just have to wait til i get back to my normal shift(which will be Nov 1, not to far off).. keep us informed of your progress.. love to hear of others success, it motivates me!!!

Best of luck with your new commitment to loss. My cousin was very good at keeping her commitment and lost over 100 lbs. over the course of a year and is still going! I was supposed to start way back when with her but I'm still trying to get started and keep that commitment. Talk about no willpower! I did exercise this morn! :) Hang in there all and best of luck to each of you.

This is something I so need to do. Maybe now I can get some motivation. Not, LOL. But I know you will have no problems.

You can do this with a positive attitude, watching what you eat, forgiving yourself for pitfalls and believing in yourself.

I started out eating what I wanted, but cutting good food down to 3/4 portions and bad food (chocolate, deserts, etc)to 1/2 portion servings. I did this for 3 weeks. Then good food to 1/2 servings - bad food 1/4 servings for 3 weeks. Then good food to diet servings which were about 1/4 servings and still kept bad food to 1/8 servings. I started stretching and riding solitary bike. Believe it or not my stomach started shrinking by my portions of food. I lost slow, but I kept it off and I changed my habit of eating. It took a few months, but I lost over 50lbs and I look good, I feel good and I eat a lot healthier now. I even bought a bicyle and go biking and I love to go clothes shopping now! Life is great!

I wish you all the best in the world. Just keep telling yourself -- You can do this!!!

Good for you! I started low-carbing in May. I was 245 lbs. I haven't stuck to it as well as I hoped (took weeks off here and there) but I've been back on track since Sept. 19 (dd's birthday) and am currently at 218! Yeah, me!

I finally had to hide my scale because it just wasn't moving fast enough and I'd get discouraged. Now I keep telling myself that the goal is to FEEL BETTER and the BONUS is losing weight. I'm only weighing myself once a month. I've found that when I low-carb properly I FEEL great (my mind works better, I'm happier, less tired, etc.)! I also recently heard good advice for when you do "cheat" - which is - "fail quickly" - meaning jump right back on that wagon! Good luck.

If you want a e-mail buddy (to share our daily menu - exercise progress, successes, failures, etc.) Feel free to e-mail me! stumpfs5 @ sbcglobal . net (no spaces)
