Angel Tree

I don't know if they do this everywhere, but at my work we did an Angel Tree. They got names of children who needed an "Angel" to get them Christmas gifts from the Salvation Army and put them on cards on our tree. We pick the child by their first name, ages, boy or girl, and whatnot and go out and buy gifts for them. I chose a little boy named Edgar who is 6 years old.

Tonight I went with my mom to Wal-mart and got him a remote control car, a transformer toy, and a robotic thing and a nice fleecy shirt and hat. It isn't much, but one more child will get Christmas thanks to this Angel Tree. It makes me feel good to know that I can do a little that will mean so much to a kid who wouldn't otherwise have a very decent Christmas morning. Now I know that gifts and toys under the tree isn't the true meaning of Christmas... but I do think that reaching out and giving to those who are less fortunate is certainly a good thing anyhow. I will do this every year that I can. It makes me get warm fuzzies. Maybe in the coming years I will pick 2 angels, one for me to shop for and one for Maia to shop for. This might help her learn about the importance of giving without expecting in return.

I haven't had much time to put together any downloads this week. I have been busy with the holidays and some home issues. I have been designing in my spare time and will likely find time over the next few days to post them. In the meantime, Luckybug is still posting freebies from me and also still having the contest for Christmas Layouts. Don't forget to pop over to their forums and get your entries in. And remember to keep Christmas coming!!!

We also adopt children each year. My dh and I don't need much at our age, so we have fun buying for the kids. We bought the 10 year old a remote control truck, the 8 year old a soccer ball and walkie-talkies, the two year an busy toy, and the baby a little machine washable toy. We gave WalMart gift certificates to the two families. I just love to give to those that need help as we did when we were married 37 years ago.

Man, it's sad that I have to be that blunt.
